Lewis Dean Terry, 72, passed away on October 23, 2025, near Roanoke Texas, surrounded by his family. Dean was born on November 24, 1952, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Marvin and Evelyn Terry. Dean grew up in Magna, Utah, but he lived in many places throughout the world and attended various schools. He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1970. He then served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Leeds, England, which was one of the highlights of his life. He married Janet Louise Smith on February 13, 1976, in the Manti, Utah, Temple (later divorced). Together, they had 6 children. He married Deanna Meeks on July 26, 2002,  gaining an additional daughter, and remained in Texas with Deanna until his passing. Dean loved and appreciated all types of music. He played the guitar and especially loved jamming with his brother, Keith. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing while in Utah. Dean was an avid BYU sports fan and loved to talk Coug football, but as a Texas transplant, he also loved his Lone Star sports teams. 

Dean was a talented athlete and musician, with a natural ear and a competitive spirit. That same passion lives on in his children and grandchildren, many of whom have inherited his talents and love for a good game or a great song. He was a wonderfully affectionate grandfather. Being at games, concerts, and Grandparents Day lunches wasn’t a duty to him; it was a joy. He cherished every invitation and chance to cheer them on. Papa Dean loved holidays and holiday leftovers. He especially enjoyed spoiling his family and being generally over the top. He had a soft spot for animals and opened his heart to countless beloved pets over the years, each one adored as a family member. Above all, Dean was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. He loved sharing the good news of the gospel. His faith carried him through deep valleys and shaped the way he loved, served, and forgave.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Terry. Children: Troy (Eric) DiChiara, Alisa (Joey) Webster, Deana Terry, James Derek Terry, Katy (Brandon) McEwan, Tadd (Kirsten) Terry, and Cassie (Thomas) Whitecotton. Siblings: Randy (Linda) Daniel, Mary (Steve) Huntsman, Marty (Donna) Terry, Launa Forrester, and Kim (Kelly) Terry. Dean was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished. 


He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Terry; his mother, Evelyn Aime; his brother, Keith Terry; and his granddaughter, Gracie.
