It’s now been 4 years. I can hardly believe life has gone on without you for so long. It’s been a long tough road but I think I’m finally standing back on solid ground.

Today I had my first meeting as a mentor for a younger coworker.

When I realized it was Aug 1, it made me reflect on Kyle and the role he had in mentoring me.

I’m grateful for his selflessness and willingness to teach others. He truly was a special person.

It’s been 2 yrs and 9 months since you left. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you and what we would be doing now. The kids are doing well but miss more than words can express. The grandkids…oh how proud you would be. They are all growing like weeds and each developing their own personalities, likes/dislikes, excelling at everything they do. Gavin talks about you when he’s here. He tells stories on how you taught him swim. I’m so glad you two had that special time. Xander was playing in a fountain on day this past March. We had all gathered for Randy’s birthday. He tossed a Penny in the fountain to make a wish. Linsay recorded him saying, “I wish Papa would come back to life”. Such a sweet boy. I’m so happy you were at Heavens gate to meet mama. She wasn’t ready to go but was looking forward to seeing you and her mom. She talked about seeing you again. She missed you so much. Please take good care of her for me. I know you were also there to meet your mom. I wasn’t able to make it to the funeral due to mama being so sick. I was able to talk with her on the phone a couple days before she passed. I was able to tell her how much she has meant to me all these years. She promised she would give you a hug and tell you how much I love and miss you. The days are easier now but I’m still a bit angry you had to go. I was no where near ready. We had so much yet to do. Until we meet again know that I carry you with me everywhere I go. I love you my sweet Kyle. ♥️

Kyle...I will miss you my friend. Seeing you at indoor and reffing you was always a pleasure. I will never forget the night you let me drive the ‘toy car’ around Stafford, a day I needed to find something to laugh about. You were there for me and so many others. You will not be forgotten.

Speaking on behalf of the soccer community and Valhalla F.C., words can’t describe how much we loved Kyle. He truly was our brother. Probably the best player we know who took up the game in his 30s. Kyle was loved by all, young and old. He was always there for his teammates and provided much wisdom for the younger guys. We are thankful we got to know Kyle so well.
