Kurtis's obituary
In Loving Memory of Kurtis Alan Haynes
Kurtis Alan Haynes was born on August 18, 1984 at 10:01 AM to Jeff and Kortney Haynes. On the evening of June 24, 2025, at 8:54 PM, his beautiful life was tragically cut short in a pedestrian hit-and-run accident in Long Beach. He was 40 years old.
Kurtis will be remembered at a memorial gathering held on what would have been the day before his 41st birthday, Sunday August 17, 2025 11AM - 4PM at the family’s residence. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and share in the celebration of his life, lunch snacks, and birthday cake will be provided. Reach out to the family directly for details.
He is survived by his loving mother, Kortney Haynes; his dedicated father, Jeff Haynes; his sister, Susan Haynes; uncle Greg Haynes; aunt Nola Haynes; and uncle Douglas Leach. Kurtis now joins those who went before him: his grandparents Margaret and Dick Haynes, Phyllis and Arthur Leach, and his aunt Leslie Leach.
Kurtis was a computer super-genius with a mind ahead of his time. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend. He was an avid RC car racer, surfer, river rat, gamer, hiker, runner, camper, fisherman and tech whiz. Someone who animals instinctively trusted and adored, testament to the tenderness of his spirit. He never demanded the spotlight, but his presence lit up the room.
We grieve Kurtis deeply, and we are so grateful for the time we had with him. The memories we made, the laughter we had, the songs we sang and the hugs we gave. Kurt’s love and the legacy of his sweet spirit and brilliance he leaves behind will be forever imprinted on our hearts.
You are free now, Kurtis. Free from pain, free from this world’s struggles. You are and always will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts. Until we meet again son, brother, nephew, friend. Say hi to our family, friends and pets in heaven!!
