On his three year anniversary of being gone, I can’t help but reminisce on his last few days with us here on earth. I’m not sharing this story to make anyone sad, but sharing the truth of what Kurt was going through that led to this tragedy.

I’m not going to share all details or his private information, but he openly had some demons that he was fighting. He fought so hard. He prayed about it to God and asked for strength over and over again. A moment of weakness took him away from us. And the sad part is that I felt the moment that it happened around 2 AM. I woke up in the middle of the night on the East Coast of Florida when he was on the West Coast. I never will forget that feeling. 

But likewise, I will never forget the “Kurtie” who I love. He was a ray of sunshine and had deep love for all of his family and close friends. He loved to joke around and smile. His hobbies were cooking and going to the gym. He even tried playing the guitar lol. There’s no doubt that this young man is deeply missed and that our heart’s ache every day for his loss. Just like with me, he is your angel watching over too.

Today marks 1 year that you’re gone. I woke up at 2am, since that’s the time I woke up 1 year ago and didn’t see a text from you, which was uncommon at the time… 

Kurtie, you will always have a piece of my heart. I can’t wait to see you again one day. Thank you for giving me the strength to move forward, and keep you around in spirit. Please continue to watch over me, and all of your family and friends who mourn for your presence.
