Personal note from Her Sons

Thank you so much to everyone visiting this page. We miss our mom tremendously and would love to have you share your favorite memories of her on this website or just browse the pictures. Since we were not able to have a funeral or memorial for her, we hope that this site can be a place for us all to come together to remember Kris.

My brother and I lost our mother way to soon and I only wish we had more time to get her any sort of treatment that would have given us even a few more months with our mom. I’ve had a lot of feelings about not doing this or not doing that. I get angry and then back to sad. It is hard for my brother and I to have to stand on the sidelines, while we helplessly watched our mother die. I’ve made peace with her passing and know it is a part of life.

Our mother has a very kind and loving heart that touched many people. If you knew her well, you would know that she would do anything possible to help a friend or family member out. As a kid or adult, our mom never wavered from speaking so highly of her two boys. So much so that most people got sick of hearing about us. Our most memorable times with her were spent on vacations in Yellowstone or exploring the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. She even took us to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville to see Alan Jackson.

Our mom was tough and her childhood helped make her that way. She didn’t have the easiest path in life and being put through foster care until the age of five was traumatizing for her. Eventually she was adopted into a caring family in Southern Nebraska. This is where my brother and I spent many summers trying to live the “Farm life”. I think my brother Kenny enjoyed it more than I did. Still, it gave me a sense of what her life was like when she was a kid. Let me tell you, I do not have what it takes to make it on a farm. I think that structure in her life was what made her work so hard as an adult to take care of us. She was incredibly driven and even owned her very own successful cleaning business for years. She built her business up quickly and eventually had to hire a team of 3-4 employees to help out. My brother and I also got a few extra $$ helping out after school sometimes. Plus, we have professional cleaning expertise under our belt now. My wife would probably disagree with that but I still know I am highly skilled.

My brother and I love our mom dearly and I know she is looking down on us smiling. The three of us have been through a lot together and we are proud to call her our mom. Death of a loved one is not easy but it is inevitable. We can only grow from these experiences and pray for strength. Just knowing all her pain is gone and that she is with God brings me peace.
