I am so very sorry for the loss of Kirk. I’m also very sorry I’m unable to attend Kirk’s celebration of life. We’ve been friends since early 90s. He is missed and will always remain in our hearts.

He made a lot of people happy with his music.

We have so many wonderful memories of Kirk James, especially from the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally where he was such an integral part of the musical lineup for several years. We always loved his music and made it a point to see him perform—whether with his band or solo—whenever we could. I’ve even kept one of his posters hanging in my man cave as a reminder of those good times. Beyond his incredible talent, we were grateful to call him our friend, and we know he will be deeply missed.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Mike and Leslie Davis

Kirk played for my mother’s 90th birthday! Our entire family loved the music. He was so personal and kind. Memories of Kirk and this day will be a forever memory for us.

Kirk was the kindest most talented person. He made you feel the music. During hard times that got me through. I cherish the times I was blessed to see him.

Met Kirk about 1973, when we joined the church where his Dad was the Music Minister. Spent many many hours together as our parents were in rehearsals & our families became friends. Kirk & I in our high school years both did audio & lighting work for services at church too. Kept in touch after we both left Dallas, and managed to get together occasionally, most recently last year as my wife & I drove across country through Durango and finally got to see Kirk's studio, his Dad's old convertible, and meet Mary Jo.
Saw some great shows together in our high school days, including my own favorite, Frank Zappa. When the Rolling Stones tour came to Dallas in 1981, their "farewell tour" everyone said(!), Kirk & I went the first day. Fabulous Thunderbirds opened, then ZZ Top. As the Stones went on a Texas thunderstorm came through, but we stood on the field of the Cotton Bowl getting soaked and loving it. Next day at church, we were talking about how great the show was, then decided why not try to go again. Left church, bought cheap scalper tickets and got inside just as the Stones were going on stage, this time under beautiful sunny skies.
So glad I got to see Kirk & meet Mary Jo last year. When I hugged him goodbye never imagined that would be our last get together. Thinking of all of his family & friends.
