Kirby's obituary
Kirby Riffe, 51, went to be with Jesus on April 7, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Kirby was born on May 9, 1974 in Houston, TX to Al and Debra Riffe. Kirby grew up in Houston as a child and young teenager before moving to De Leon, TX in 1989 where he attended De Leon High School. He spent his days fishing at Proctor Lake with his Grandfather "Dub" and arrowhead hunting.
Kirby became a Father in 1996 where he began one of his greatest accomplishments in life; being a Dad. He married the love of his life, Elaine Riffe, on June 27, 2003. He began his career as a diesel mechanic at Massey Ferguson before later becoming a Journeyman Plumber at Erath Plumbing in Stephenville, TX where he worked up until the day of his passing. After giving his life to the Lord January 17, 2007, he spent his days doing what he loved; helping others. He openly shared his love for Jesus with customers and coworkers around him. His love for helping shined through his work, spending nights and weekends making sure everyone got taken care of no matter what it took. He took great pride in his work.
Kirby shared his love of the outdoors with his family often spending the weekends camping at Proctor showing all his kids his favorite fishing and arrowhead hunting spots. His family remembers the many nights camping at Promontory Park when they would fall asleep late at night only to wake up to a stringer full of catfish that Kirby stayed up all night catching. Kirby later found a love for dancing, introduced by his daughter Kaylee, you could find him practicing his Daddy/Daughter dance routine that they would perform together on the 50 yard line at the Homecoming football game. When he wasn't fishing or dancing, he was at home spending time with his children and grandchildren. Playing football, basketball, and playing pranks on the grandkids were just a few of the many things he loved doing. His family will deeply miss him cooking out on the weekends, hanging out on the back porch, even him hollering at the TV when the Cowboys were playing on Sunday.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Kirby will fondly remember him for his strength, kindness, love, and generosity, traits that he effortlessly passed on to his children. It is these gifts of character that will keep his memory alive in the hearts of those who cherished him.
Kirby is survived by his wife, Elaine; son Taylor and his wife Kristen; daughter Haylee and her husband Donivine; daughter Kaylee; son Cody; grandchildren Britten Kollman, Brooks Barnett, Hayes Allred, Paisley Riffe, Ellie Riffe; parents Al and Debra; sister Malla; brother Harley and his wife Tomilynn.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ila Jo and L.W. "Dub" Sharp; grandparents Helen and Avon Riffe.
