Personal note from Christina

King's "Celebration of Life" will take place in Port Angeles, WA, most likely in late May. Details to follow.

This is Christina Pollard, King’s wife. I am so sorry that I am not there in Georgia mourning with you. Some of you know that I have been very ill for a few years. I was getting so much better, then King started to go downhill fast. As I helplessly watched him fade away in the last few weeks, my progress marched backwards. I consulted my doctor, and she advised me not to travel. Grief and stress can affect your physical health deeply, in ways I never knew were possible. But I’m here. And I’m grieving our loss of King.

King was the love of my life. Marriage is never easy, but we had one of those forever loves, from the moment we met. He was the kindest man I’ve ever known; he ranked right up there with my daddy. You can tell just by looking at his eyes. And that smile. It got me every time. We laughed together, danced together, dreamed together. We comforted each other. From the beginning, he supported my dreams and carried them out with me. And when it got to the point where I could not function when I was really sick, he took excellent care of me. Lovingly, competently. And now, he’s my guardian angel. He told me he would be, even when he was in the hospital in Seattle and couldn’t breathe on his own.

I want to thank all of you for the love you hold for King. Don’t ever let that go, because King was one of the genuine good guys.
