Kim was my sister-in-law for over 33 years (our husbands are brothers). Where do I start.  Our families grew up together and shared many special times. We watched each other’s children grow and thrive. Kim was always my “person” when we attended  large gatherings. Kim was a talker, and I could listen.  She would tell the best stories because she was friends with everyone and had many stories to tell. I will be lost without her, as she probably sensed my  anxiety in crowds.  She is the bravest and kindest person I’ll ever know.  When I’m feeling alone in a crowd, and not feeling much courage, I’ll have a smile on face because I will be thinking of Kim keeping me safe. My dear, sweet friend will always be with me and will be deeply missed.

I had the joy of Kim’s friendship from grade school, all the way throughout our ever changing lives. I was so inspired by Kimmie’s strength, determination & courage. But that’s who she was. She brought nothing but positive energy to any situation. I loved our visits over that past 10 years. It was so easy & comforting, as we covered everything from modern medicine, families, and politics. Her gracious spirit, calm demeanor & accepting nature made it easy to visit for hours. I will miss you so much Kimmie, but now you are free from all the pain. May you rest in peace & watch over your beautiful family as you did in life. You were an amazing human. I was so blessed to be your friend. Love always 💖

My name is Ellie, and I am one of Morgan’s Seattle friends. Although I did not know the Kauss family intimately, I did have the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Kauss and would like to share this memory.

Morgan had mentioned that her Mom would be visiting and that she would like me to meet her. As Morgan carefully curated her visit, she remembered that I had been beaming about one of the best places the city has to offer- The Seattle Pinball Museum. This was the perfect place for our girls' afternoon as Mrs. Kauss, Morgan, Shelby, and I indulged in unlimited play. My favorite moment was when Mrs. Kauss sat down to play Crazy Taxi. As a spectator, there’s nothing better than watching the craziest taxi driver, and Mrs. Kauss delivered! I remember how warm, fun, and effortlessly positive she was. I feel grateful to have shared even that small, joyful moment with her.

My heart goes out to the Kauss family during this difficult time. May the warmth, laughter, and love that Mrs. Kauss brought into the world continue to surround and comfort you always.

Kims loss is deeply felt by everyone who knew her. She was not only a devoted mother but also someone who cared for many others. Kim had such a tender spirit and a loving heart—her kindness and support came straight from the soul, without judgment, and always with grace. She also had the sweetest sense of humor, one that could light up even the hardest days. At times when I felt helpless, Kim always found a way to lift me up, offering a positive spin or a few thoughtful words of advice that seemed to make everything feel a little better. I will always remember the woman who was never a pushover but handled everything with such grace, and the wonderful friend she was to me. To call her easygoing hardly does her justice; she had a quiet strength and drive that never wavered, even in the toughest times.

Kim, you brought so much light and comfort to everyone around you. I will always be thankful for your friendship, your laughter, and your kind heart. You’ll always be with me—in the small moments, the shared memories, and the love you so freely gave.

Kauss Family, my sincerest condolences. Kimberly was always so kind to me and every time we gathered it was always a time full of laughter and stories. She was also an amazing mother to my dear friend Morgan, something I’ll always be grateful for.

Kim's Pegasus - You can now ride forever, pain free!

Dear Kauss & Quinn Family - Kim and I were childhood friends, and even tho later in life we lived in different states, we still remained friends, but friends from afar!  There was never a time, Kim wasn't in my thoughts, even before the cancer.  She was a "true-blue" friend from my childhood. Friends like that are rare and hard to find.  I'm just grateful she was mine!

Here are just a few fond memories I will keep forever about sweet Kim.

Her laugh...she was always such a happy soul. I envied her for that.  I believe she survived cancer for as long as she did because of her positivity and warrior like attitude. Furthermore, I'm sure she fought it only to do it with a smile on her face to the bitter end.

Top Grade A at everything...sports, riding horses, good grades, popular amongst her classmates (just to name a few!).  She was the type of friend everyone wanted to have.

A Friend for Life - Kim always valued friendships. Never took friendship for granted. She was trustworthy and a good listener.

Loved Horses - My Dad introduced me to the love of riding and having a horse.  He taught me to ride a horse before he taught me to ride a bike.  I bet her Dad Steve, introduced horses to her at a young age too, and taught her to love horses like my Dad did with me. Good Job Steve!  (:@)

I'll miss Kim and visiting with her on occasion when I came back to IL to visit.  I only wished I could have had more time to spend with her. I wished I could have met her married family.  I would share with them, what an amazing person their mom was.  Please make her proud as she watches over each of you through the clouds!

I also wished she and I could have ridden horses together.  I'll just have to wait for my Pegasus to take me to see my friend in heaven.

Peace Be With All of You - Love, Carna
