It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Kimberly Ann Buchanan.
Kimberly graced this world with her presence on October 2, 1962, and departed on May 13, 2021. Known to many as Kim or Kimbo, she was a woman of many facets and will be dearly missed. Kimberly embraced life in her own reserve, introspective, warm, generous, funny, and nurturing way. Her life was filled with love towards her family, enthusiasm for music, appreciation for delectable cuisine, and zest for games and travels. Kimberly's unforgettable journey was marked by milestones that she faced with grace and courage, creating memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
Kimberly was born to Raymond Buchanan and Beverly McElroy. She is now united in death with her mother Beverly’s passing 3 years after Kim’s passing, and her father Raymond who predeceased her. Behind, she left her son, Matthew Cox, who was her most cherished gift and her greatest legacy. She also survived by her step-father James David McElroy and her sister, Kelli Parks. who all cherish her memory and continue to honor her life
A proud alumna of Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City, OK, Kimberly graduated in the year 1980. Notably, she showed her dedication and perseverance by working for the F.A.A. while still in high school. Music, especially classic rock concerts were a great source of joy for Kimberly. Her favorite bands included Eagles, Cheap Trick, and Boston. Listening to music spoke to her soul and brought her immense happiness.
Kimberly cherished moments spent playing games like WaaHoo and word search puzzles. These games were not just a pastime for her, but a way of bonding with loved ones. Her favorite vacation spots were Dog Patch, USA in Arkansas, Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, and Disney World in Florida. These places held a special place in her heart and were the backdrop of many cherished family memories.
The void left by Kimberly's departure is a testament to the profound impact she had on those she encountered. Kimberly's memory will forever be embedded in our hearts. She embraced life with unapologetic authenticity.Those who knew Kimberly will remember her as reserved, introspective, yet warm, generous, funny, and nurturing. Above all, her greatest legacy is her son, Matthew, who embodies her spirit and love. May her soul rest in peace.
