Kimberley's obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kimberley Daugherty, who left us on February 16, 2026. Kimberley was born on September 3, 1959, and lived a life full of love, strength, and passion. She was a woman known for her caring heart, spicy spirit, and strong will.

Kimberley is survived by her loving partner of 35+ years, Frank Smit, her devoted daughter, Jennifer (Markus) Paden, and her sons, Joseph Burrow and Jeffrey (Barbara) Burrow. She was also the loving grandmother to Matthew, Sariah, Kiella, Bentley, Miles, Evelyn, and Morgan. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Zanzinger, and brother, James Daughtery. Also, many other nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors.

Kimberley was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Daughtery, her step-father, Robert Daugherty, grandparents, James and Lila Bartleson and her beloved pets, Keek, Trixie, and Roxie.

She held her family close to her heart and considered her children to be her greatest accomplishment.

Kimberley had an affection for black cherry ice cream & yogurt, kettle cooked potato chips, Little Debbie Suzie Q's, and black licorice. She enjoyed Diet 7-Up and found interest in the written works of V.C. Andrews. She loved listening to music, especially Elvis, The Carpenters, Adele, Bob Seger, The Eagles, Melissa Etheridge, Heart, and the Oldies.

Kimberley found joy in watching TV Shows such as NCIS, The Golden Girls, Bewitched, Wheel of Fortune, and Family Feud. She held a special place for movies like Dirty Dancing, The Devil Wears Prada, Gone with the Wind, and anything featuring John Wayne. Her love for games was evident in her passion for Solitaire, Crosswords, Sudoku, Crazy 8's, Go-Fish, and Blitz.

Ice Skating performances brought her much delight as did her recreational activities which included spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, going to garage sales, cooking, sewing, puzzles, collecting old tins, and playing with the dogs. Kimberley enjoyed exercise, especially long walks with her grandchildren and dogs, swimming, and bowling. Her favorite vacation spot was Lake Wisconsin, affectionately referred to as "The Camper" where she met and fell in love with Frank.

Random things Mimi loved or was known for: making care packages for people, her Durango's (green and red), coffee, campfires, sunshine, star gazing, French braids in her hair, dancing, blowing kisses, comfy pajamas, and the fragrance Red Door by Elizabeth Arden.

Things she didn't like: jerk drivers, being late to anything, Jennifer standing outside looking for shelf clouds during a tornado warning, and lima beans!

A true lover of the color purple, Kimberley was a woman of amazing strength and substance. She imparted valuable lessons such as the importance of politeness, minding one's manners, and over packing to ensure you have what you need. Kimberley Daugherty, Mimi, Mom, Dahlink, Aunt Timmer, however you knew her, Kim was a unique soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and love her.

A special thank you to the nurses and care team at Rush Memorial Hospital for your extensive support. An extra heart felt thank you to Dr. Nicole Siparsky and Dr. Jessica Diaz, we appreciate the commitment and honesty you both so lovingly provided. Mom can rest now.
