Kim's obituary
Kim "Kim Woods" Moretz, 64, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on November 20, 2021.
Kim was born on March 7th, 1957. After graduating from Lewisburg High School in 1975, she studied Criminal Justice at Pennsylvania State.
After graduation, she landed her first job as a paralegal for a number of years.
In 1985 and 1993, Kim gave birth to her two children, Jon and Jackie. She was married to Jackie's father, Wilbert Woods, for 15 years. Recognizing her connection with children, she decided to pursue early education and ran her own at-home daycare in Oak Park. While having a full-time job and being a mother of two, she was determined and earned her Masters degree in Early Education with straight A's. She went on to be the director of the OPRF early education center and help students. Kim was known for her comedic relief, beauty, and incredible teaching ability. Whether she was cheering on her children at their various sporting events or making them laugh through difficult times, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others.
Kim later went on to be a passionate special education teacher specifically with kids with autism. Kim always emphasized the importance of love and never being afraid to love full-heartedly. She finally got her true love story when she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Mike Moretz. He was the love of her life. They enjoyed the rest of their time together in the warm weather of Las Vegas for retirement. Mike passed away in June 2020 leaving Kim heartbroken but grateful to have experienced "the romance of a lifetime." We will miss her greatly. She is survived by her amazing sisters Trish, Maureen, and Franny.
The family requests that instead of flowers, please leave a detailed memory of Kim by email, using the link below, and if you are able to please donate to West Suburban Recreation Association. Kim both worked and volunteered for West Suburban Special Recreation Association. It exists to provide year-round quality recreation services for persons with disabilities. There will be a private memorial on Sunday, November 20th at 4:30 pm at Jimmy's Place in Forest Park. Shared memories, prayer, and moment of silence at 5:15pm.
