Kim's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kim Lockwood on October 25, 2024. Born in March of 1965 in Portland, Oregon, Kim lived a vibrant life full of warmth, creativity, and resilience. Her light and spirit touched every life she encountered, leaving a deep and lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her.
One of Kim’s greatest joys was being a devoted mother and grandmother. Kim is survived by her two daughters Emily (Marcos) Vigil and Jennifer (David) Schomburg; and four grandchildren, Summer Schomburg, Eisley Vigil, Adeline Schomburg, and Harrison Vigil; and partner, Glenn Louie. Kim was a very involved mother and grandmother, who instilled in her family a love for adventure, the outdoors, our country, and the arts. Her daughters will cherish memories of their mother leading their Campfire groups, snowboarding with them, and her involvement in their theater, music, and dance endeavors. Kim was very creative and had a talent in drawing, painting, and photography. As a result music, dance, arts and crafts were a staple of the home.
Kim’s fruitful life also led her on a journey that saw her transition from a nurturing stay-at-home mom to a respected professional. She gained an Associate of General Studies and Associate of Applied Science from Clackamas County College in 1998. Later, in 2012, went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Project Management from George Fox University. Kim worked for Clackamas County for about 25 years as an Engineer Technician II, GIS Analyst.
In her free time, Kim loved to hike, camp, travel to the coast, garden, and shop for her grandkids. She was also passionate about her country, and enjoyed learning about and teaching safety and preparedness. She even led quarterly safety meetings for the employees of Clackamas County.
Kim was a beacon of kindness, a woman whose energy and passion was present in both her personal and professional lives. Her inherent beauty was invariably matched by her resolute spirit and unconditional love for her family and friends.
Kim’s legacy is anchored in a life well-lived, defined by a determined and consistent work ethic, while simultaneously appreciating the beauty inherent in the world around her. To meet Kim was to encounter a woman who, even amid life’s challenges, radiated beauty and kindness.
In memory of Kim Lockwood, we remember a woman who made everyone she met smile, and who generously cared for her family and friends. Her vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 29, 2024. Please reach out to the family for more details.
