I was very fortunate to meet the Hackbarth’s when Scott & Kim moved to SD where we were neighbors. I have so many wonderful memories of Kim.
At our 1st Walden neighborhood Halloween party, Kim dressed in a Karate outfit with a sword. Just like a scene from SNL’s John Belushi samurai warrior skit, she enthusiastically used the sword to cut the sheet cake. You could hear the gasps from everyone. Kim was so funny & so fun to be around. We quickly became friends & played on a co-ed softball team named the Walden Whackers. Our team went from worst to first. Scott played centerfield & was appropriately nicknamed “Wheels” since he was our best player. Kim, well she was into fashion. Her signature outfit consisted of khaki shorts, a white tank top & white tennis shoes. Kim had an artistic flair & a creative streak which was manifested in her start up entrepreneurial venture named Sparkle & Bows. She hand painted embellishments on white tennis shoes so she could sell them at Nordstrom.
Our adventures consisted of family trips, GF trips & going to concerts.
There was a family trip to rent houseboats in Lake Mead with the Hackbarths, the Dunlevys, the Gallegos, & the Riches. Kristen & at the time baby Kyle were also there.
San Francisco GF trip with Chris Gallego, Cindy Dunlevy, Kim & me. Upon our arrival at the airport, we were delighted to see thoughtful Kim greeting us with HUGE cups of Rum & Coke. We shopped at Tiffany’s in downtown SF & bought matching bracelets.
Travels to Amsterdam & Paris with Kim, Cindy & Ali.
Concerts: John Mayer & Maroon 5 at the Gorge with Kim, Cindy, & Mark Stevens. When she came to SD; Kim, Cindy & I would go see The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffet & Bob Dylan.
The last time I saw Kim was when we had lunch with Cindy, Marina (my son’s GF) in SD. Kim was always very generous & graciously paid for our meal. We talked about seeing the Eagles in Las Vegas.
I loved her & will miss my dear friend. Until we meet again…
