Keyth's obituary

In Loving Memory: EAST FALMOUTH, Mass. — Jeffrey “Keyth” Sylvia, 39, passed away on September 8, 2022 at Veteran’s Inc, Worcester, MA. Keyth will always be remembered for his courage and tenacity during his often arduous life’s journey. Even though he ended his own life, we find comfort knowing that he is finally in peace.

Keyth is survived by his parents, Mary and Jeffrey Sylvia of East Falmouth; his daughter Arabella, her mother/his partner, Elizabeth Chilton of San Francisco CA; his sister Holly, brother-in-law Jarrid; and niece Paisley Best of Teaticket. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins. Keyth is predeceased by his grandparents Pauline and Brad Sylvia of Martha’s Vineyard, and grandmother, Jayne Marshall and predeceased by his grandfather Jack Marshall of East Falmouth. Keyth touched the lives of many. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and all who was fortunate enough to really know him.

Keyth was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts and attended Falmouth public schools and Falmouth Academy. He was raised by Mary and Jeffrey Sylvia and grew up with his beloved sister Holly.

Keyth joined the Marine Corps in 2002 and was soon deployed to Iraq at the start of the Operation Iraqi Freedom in March 2003. He served with the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, re-supply, which is a part of the 1st Marine Division in 29 Palms, CA. His military occupational speciality was welding and machinist. Keyth was afflicted with significant PTSD, which altered his life forever.

Keyth was a creative and talented artist. He worked with many different mediums such as ink pressing from his carved linoleum tiles. Many art wall hanging are held dear by many. He also fabricating by welded ing many pieces of contemporary furniture, that will be forever treasured. During the summers, he was known for detailing boats; Spending time with his dad in the garage was always a special time for both of them. Keyth enjoyed boating with his daughter & niece, it was the best of times. Keyth was also known to be a great cook. Very often, he would act like he was in a cooking competition with his mother, it was hilarious. Keyth had a rather eccentric palette for fine foods, he was a true “foodie”. Among many dishes, his favorite was duck confit, Tikka Masala, Carnitas and used truffle oil on almost everything! It was common to see Keyth enjoy listening to music and playing his guitar.

The most important & cherished person in Keyth’s life was his daughter Arabella. He would light up the room with his smile whenever he spoke about her and when she came for long visits. He was so very proud of the young woman that Arabella has become thus far!

A celebration in honor of Keyth’s life will be shared, on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at The Manor House located in the Lochstead community at 115 Coonamessett Circle, East Falmouth, Ma 02536.
