Kevin's obituary

Kevin Darrell Tyner, 54, of Detroit, MI, unexpectedly passed away on December 07, 2023.

Kevin was born on April 23, 1969, to John Willie Tyner Sr. and Cynthia Yvonne Tyner in Detroit, MI. Kevin began working in the paint industry as a mixer for Standard Paint and United Paint. After a few years in the industry, he decided to get his CDL and landed his first job at Swift Transportation launching his 20-year career as a truck driver. Kevin also held positions at K/E Electric, GFL, and Priority Waste, which was his latest employer. In 1993, he met Nakia Clark and had three children, Neffertia Shaniqua, Kenyari Darrell, and Naja Yvonne.

Kevin was a force of nature, praised by all during his career, the life of any party he walked into, and brought many smiles and laughter to everyone around him. He was devoted to his children who meant the world to him. He was unendingly proud of Neffertia, who takes after his truck-driving nature of getting in the car and driving all over the U.S.; Kenyari who takes after his goofy nature and will make you laugh without even trying; and Naja who takes after his wittiness and can create hilarious comebacks for days.

Kevin often gave himself umpire duties during our family reunion baseball games. Though some calls may not have been the fairest, especially when his kids were at the plate, he undoubtedly helped the family have a great time. His larger-than-life personality drew people to him. Anyone who knew Kevin knew they were in for a good laugh or an exaggerated or sometimes completely made-up story. Kevin enjoyed going fishing, watching his two favorite TV shows: The Big Bang Theory (Bazinga!) and Law & Order SVU, throwing something on the grill when he had the chance, and sitting at a spades or dominoes table until the end of time.

Kevin is survived by his children: Neffertia Shaniqua, Kenyari Darrell, and Naja Yvonne; his siblings: William Anthony Randle, John Willie Jr, Michelle Lynette (Kevin), and Stephanie Yvonne; his nieces and nephews: Vincent DeJuan, Tremain Marcel, William Kevin Jr, Tyree Jaquan, Sean James, Stephen Michael, Taniya Yvonne, De'Anna Burrell, Jeremy Randle, Kelli Randle, Tayshawn Brooks, Alayna Randle; and his great-nephews: Jeremy Marcel and Tremain Marcel Jr. And a host of family and friends who love and cherish him deeply.

The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to Stinson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held for Kevin on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Stinson Funeral Home. The public viewing to pay respects will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM followed by the funeral service beginning at 11:30 AM.
