Kevin's obituary
Kevin Francis Meehan 10/29/1952 - 8/3/2020 (age 67)
Broomfield, Colorado
(Formerly of Glocester, RI)
Loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle & Friend, Kevin Meehan died Monday, August 3, 2020, in peace.
All whom knew Kevin Meehan were affected by his extremely upbeat, compassionate, and loving personality, which will be forever remembered in his memory. Kevin grew up in Glocester and by nature was a very happy, loving, creative, interesting and adventurous person. After playing high school football, Kevin joined the US Military. Kevin’s services were held with full military honors at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Kevin married his wife, Carolyn, in New Zealand (her native country) and then returned to reside in Colorado. Soon after, they, along with Kevin’s two older children Sean & Meghan, welcomed their first child Kristofer, then Kyler and lastly but not least, Katelyn. The joy, pride, happiness, and love that was present within the union of Kevin & Carolyn and their five children transcended through family and friends. They enjoyed family time; adventure sports, mountain hiking, travel and prayer together as a family, with a very strong faith in God.
Each year the family would run the Bolder Boulder, “America’s All-Time Best 10K," in honor of those that served. Kevin’s father, James, served in the US Military and achieving the rank of Major. Also, Kevin hiked some of the highest peaks in Colorado with his wife, children and siblings. One of his favorite hikes was near Aspen, submitting Capitol Peak on the dreaded Knives Edge. He stood balancing with his arms open wide, upwards toward heaven. Kevin loved life and he attacked it fervently. As this family grew, the five children knew how to laugh! Between Kevin & Carolyn, two natural comedians, the children knew laughter, hugs and love! All the children were very excellent students, that went on to attend great colleges and are successful adults today. All the children have Kevin’s adventurous spirit, love of nature and willingness to work hard to achieve their goals.
Kevin was very creative. He enjoyed wood carving, home building, real estate, farming, and learning. Kevin leaves behind many friends from every walk of his life, his wife Caroline, sons Sean, Kristofer & Kyler, daughters Meghan & Katelyn, brothers Jim, Brian & Colin, sisters Patrish and Sharon, and all other additional immediate family, cousins, nieces, and nephews. In loving memory (predeceased Kevin) his parents, James (Jim) & Muriel Meehan and brother John Meehan.
To the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the Word, we thank you for your presence in our lives. As we all go forth without you, may your light shine within each one of us everyday. We love you!
