Kevin's obituary

Kevin Webb Crane, 64, died in Orange City, Florida on July 22nd 2020, at approximately 4:45 AM. He is survived by his beloved children – son Tyler Crane of Chicago, Illinois, daughter Amber Thurston of Katonah, New York, granddaughter Liliana Thurston, and several half-siblings including Penelope, Nicholas, and Alan Danforth Jr.

Kevin lived in Orange City, Florida for over 40 years. He was a gifted craftsman and woodworker who blessed people all up and down the state with his original work. People locally may remember him as building sand sculptures for over 20 years at Deland's annual Manatee Festival.

He was wickedly funny. He was an inventor and often had ideas like beer and tomato juice years before Fortune 50 companies. People at Lowe's referred to him as "Mr. Happy" because he always had a smile on his face. The value he placed on relationships with friends and family was one of a kind and also sacred.

In December of last year he learned he had cancer. Despite the sad news he stood tall and made it known that he was living with cancer -not dying of it. The news was tragic but nothing about him was a tragedy. His decision not to avert his eyes from death was so "Kev". He epitomized a fortitude we don't celebrate enough in our death - avoidant culture. His incredible strength was so eloquently matched by his poise, softness and grace. Right up until the end he never wrestled with life – he embraced it fully. He lived a minimalist life with MAXIMUM enjoyment. He didn't need to work hard to bring maximum enjoyment to those he met either. He was a cat lover and often said that there's no animal that exhibits more unconditional love than a cat. He loved their independence. He loved the fact that they didn't come when you call them. They did what they want, how they want. They live their life the way that they want...just like Kevin.

He was the "poster boy" for "quirky but cool as f*ck." He was a tireless worker....a perfectionist in all he did. He was sweet. He was tender and he was loved by all who had the pleasure to meet him. There is no doubt he will be one of the chief entertainers for all in heaven. He will be missed by all but we were so lucky and blessed to have known him. We will miss you brother.

Peace.

Love always.

Latch Ya Cater.
