Kerry's obituary
In Loving Memory of Kerry Tappin
Kerry Tappin, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, departed from us suddenly on May 23, 2023. Born on April 29, 1976, in Beckford Kraal, Clarendon, Jamaica. Kerry was the daughter of Grace Williams and the late Clement Mckenzie (may he rest in peace). In the late 1980s, her family relocated to Washington, DC, where she grew up and later embarked on a beautiful journey of love and adventure.
Kerry was joined in matrimony with her loving husband, Jermaine Tappin, for a remarkable 20 years. Together, they explored the world, creating lasting memories in countries such as Iceland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, South Korea, and various states throughout the USA. These remarkable adventures were shared as Jermaine served his country in the United States Air Force. Their bond grew stronger through the experiences they shared.
Above all, Kerry was an exceptional mother to her four daughters, Kerissa, Katelyn, Krystal, and Kristen, as well as her bonus daughter, Sanai. She treasured her relationship with her girls, cherishing every moment and instilling in them the love of God. Kerry took pride in witnessing their growth and maturity in all aspects of their lives. Her devotion and passion extended not only to her own children but to all children. It was this passion that inspired her to establish the Rising Star Child Daycare in November 2012, where she lovingly nurtured and guided numerous young minds.
A woman of deep faith, Kerry wholeheartedly loved the Lord. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church, dedicating her time and energy to the children's ministry and serving in various positions. Kerry's spiritual journey was enriched by her daily devotionals and journaling, leaving behind a cherished legacy for her children. Her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32, perfectly encapsulated her kind and compassionate nature: "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God has forgiven you."
Kerry's selflessness and unwavering devotion to her loved ones were unparalleled. Putting the needs and happiness of others before her own, she consistently provided support and assistance in every situation. Her vibrant and outgoing personality drew people to her, and she embraced each new acquaintance as a dear friend. Kerry's love for dance, singing, and cooking delectable meals brought joy to those around her, as she would often open her home and heart to welcome everyone.
Though Kerry's passing has left a void in our lives, her spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in our hearts. Her memory will be cherished by her devoted husband, Jermaine, her four daughters, Kerissa, Katelyn, Krystal, and Kristen, and her bonus daughter, Sanai. She is also survived by her mother, Grace, and a wide circle of siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles.
We take solace in the knowledge that Kerry's love and light will continue to shine through the lives she touched. May her kind soul rest in eternal peace, and may we carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness.
