Kerry's obituary
Kerry Wayne Bearden
September 21, 1957 – August 10, 2025
Kerry Wayne Bearden, 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Born on September 21, 1957, to W.B. “Dub” and Faye McKinnie Bearden, Kerry lived a life defined by family, generosity, and hard work.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Connie Bevans Bearden; children Sabrina Atchley (Josh), Krista Ivy (Chad), Ashley Owen (Justin), Kane Allen (Paco), and Trace Bearden (Sydney); grandchildren Luke Atchley, Elizabeth Atchley, James Atchley, Caleigh Ivy, Everleigh Ivy, Ace Bearden, Beaux Bearden, and Presley Bearden; siblings Sharon Bearden and Kendall Bearden; and mother-in-law Dee Bevans. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Timothy Ray Bearden, and father-in-law, David Wayne “B-Baby” Bevans.
Whether you knew him by KB, Slim, or Pop it was easy to see he had a remarkable gift for working with his hands—it didn’t matter what it was, he could weld it or fix it. An avid fisherman, he found joy on the water and tying jigs. He also loved being with people, whether working the chains at a Farmers game or watching the action at a local dirt track. A true connoisseur of good food, Kerry especially delighted in being “Hunnie’s” taste tester, and spending time with his grandchildren.
A steadfast supporter of the Miss Louisiana Watermelon Festival Pageant, Kerry believed deeply in the opportunities it created for young women and poured his energy into helping. His generosity, loyalty, and genuine spirit touched everyone he met, leaving a legacy of kindness and love that will not be forgotten.
A visitation/celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Franklin Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kerry Bearden Memorial: Keeper of the Cape Scholarship through the Farmerville Jaycees at www.louisianawatermelonfestiv….
Kerry’s love for his family and friends, his unwavering generosity, and his big-hearted spirit will be remembered and cherished for a lifetime.
