Kerry's obituary

Kerry (Beard) Wilson, age 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones on November 19, 2021. Kerry fought a long battle with cancer and is finally at rest. She will be forever loved and forever remembered.

Kerry was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerald Wilson, her parents Jerry and Kay Beard, and her brother-in-law John Sandlin.

Kerry is survived by one daughter Eden (Matt) Soroka, and grandchildren Josh and Kaylee Soroka. She is also survived by four siblings: Ron Beard, Don (Debra) Beard, Kevin (Edie) Beard, and Vicki (Nasir) Sandlin Jiwa. Nieces Colleen (Chris) Johnson, Jessica Beard, Katy Sandlin, and nephews Dan (Tiffany) Beard and Sean Sandlin. Great nieces Vivian Johnson, Julia Johnson, and great nephews Bastian Southard, Seamus Beard and Rory Beard.

Kerry grew up the second of five siblings in metropolitan Detroit where she attended St. Norbert Elementary School in Inkster and Sacred Heart High School in Dearborn, Class of 1968.

Kerry spent most of her working career as a legal secretary at several law firms in Detroit, Lansing, and Traverse City, Michigan. She and her husband Gerry moved to Traverse City and were married in August of 1993. They spent their married life happily enjoying all that northern Michigan has to offer with family and friends visiting them often at their East Bay condominium.

Kerry was a huge sports fan and especially loved football, both college and pro, as well as tennis. She loved watching the Grand Slam events, and rarely missed a football game on TV. She was also an avid golfer and loved to challenge her three brothers on the golf course. Kerry was always reading and loved science fiction and detective series in particular. Kerry will be remembered for her infectious laugh and outspoken personality.

No services will take place, as Kerry requested, but we do appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.

You may make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her honor as an alternative to flowers.
