Kent's obituary

Kent Maerki, 79 years old, passed away on August 28th, 2022 after a short battle with sudden illness.

Kent was born on September 13th, 1942 to Wilda and Walt Maerki in Cincinnati, OH.

He began a career in marketing and soon realized his entrepreneurial spirit, establishing and running several companies, traveling and moving around the country in his endeavors.

He lived to be productive and pursue further and greater knowledge, and believed these were the two things that led to a happy life. He prided himself on his sense of humor and being positive, and it was rare that you saw him without a smile on his face. He never held a grudge and and was always quick to forgive those that wronged him.

Kent was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family and closest friends meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his daughter Alicia, and deeply loved his wife Norma, and always tried his best to support and be supportive of them. He would get choked up every time he spoke of his love for them, his closest friends, Jon Palmieri and Frank Normali, and would laugh when telling stories of all the good memories he had with each of them.

Kent was also passionate about basketball and often compared the game to situations in life and referenced players that most would never understand. He would always get excited about the upcoming season and talk enthusiastically about the last night’s game.

Anyone who knew Kent knew that he was the most caring friend and the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Kent was predeceased by his mother Wilda, father Walt, and grandmother Della. He is survived by wife Norma, daughter Alicia, and so many inherited brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews by marriage, all whom he loved and became close with.

The family requests that donations to charity in his name be made in lieu of flowers. A celebration of life will be planned and announced soon.
