Kenneth's obituary

Kenneth (Ken) Wayne Johnson of Mesa, AZ passed away on June 1st, 2025.  He was born in Worcester, MA on June 30, 1938.  He is survived by his sons, Glenn Johnson (Katy) of Piedmont, SC and Jeff Johnson (Kathy) of Tomball, TX as well as step-sons Steven Jeffries (Dawn) and Erik Jeffries (Terri), grandchildren, Deborah Johnson, Rachel Torres (Jose), Valerie Johnson, Aly Garvey, Samantha Garvey, Bethany Jeffries (Gary), Michelle Jeffries, Michael Jeffries (Jessica), Daniel Jeffries (Courtney), Kevin Jeffries, Chelsea O’Hare (Shelby), Brendan O’Hare (Quynh), and great-granddaughters Charlotte Standley and Sophie Jeffries.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ursula Johnson; daughter, Joanna Garvey; his father, Stanley Johnson; his mother, Martha Breault; and his sister, Martha “Marty” Soderman.  

He grew up in Worcester and graduated with a B.A. degree in business from the University of Massachusetts in 1960. He worked in the commercial insurance industry and lived in Hartford, Boston, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis.  Ken retired with his wife to Gold Canyon, Arizona.  He was very much a sports enthusiast with baseball and the Red Sox as his favorites.  His childhood hero was Ted Williams.  He also was active in bowling, tennis, ping pong, and pool and passed his love of sports on to his children.  He also enjoyed playing trump card games including 500 and Bridge.  Up until his passing, he read the Bridge column every day in the newspaper.  Ken will be buried next to his parents and sister on August 7th at All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester, MA.
