Kenneth's obituary

Kenneth Bailey Pace, a beloved person in his community, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. Surrounded by his children and dearest friends during his final days, he left behind a legacy of kindness and warmth.

Ken was born on March 18, 1954, and grew up in Hanover, Virginia. As a child he was an avid reader. He enjoyed playing music with his sister Rene and tagging along with his grandfather, “Poppy,” a skilled mechanic and machinist. As a teenager, Ken attended Henrico High School, worked at Barksdale Theatre. He spent many summers working at Camp Zarahemla.

His family moved to Texas during his sophomore year. While there, he graduated from John Marshall High School.

He went on to build a career as a skilled carpenter, dedicating himself to his craft with the same hardworking spirit that defined his life. He devoted over 40 years of his life to framing houses and renovating historic homes in the beautiful city of Richmond, VA.

Ken’s genuine nature and kindness touched the lives of many through his work and friendships. He was quick-witted and a natural storyteller, capable of bringing laughter and warmth to those around him. Whether sharing meals with friends or spending time with his children, grandchildren, and beloved dog Ellie May, Ken found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Ken’s family is deeply saddened by his loss, with his daughter, Jessica Hurd, his son, Justin Pace, and his two grandchildren, Lauralynn and Ella Rae Hurd, among those who cherish his memory.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Estes-Nelson; father, Raymond Pace; and sister, Renee Bendele.

May the memory of Kenneth Bailey Pace bring comfort and solace to all who knew him..

A Celebration of Life was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Westhampton Memorial and Cremation Park.
