Kenneth's obituary
Kenneth Gaylon Mayfield, 67, passed away on July 5, 2025, in Key West Florida. He was born on March 31, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas, where he resided with his loving family for some time. Kenneth lived a life full of laughter, joy, and friendship – always giving to those in need. He was a caring and compassionate son, brother and uncle to the ones who meant the most.
He graduated from Trinity High School in Euless, Texas, in 1977. Kenneth received a scholarship from Texas Tech University, where he attended college for two years. Even though West Texas was home to Kenneth, he found his true place in Austin, Texas, where he lived after transferring to the University of Texas in 1979. He loved the people and music in the city and would have stayed as long as he could, but Kenneth moved back to the DFW area to be close to his family. Recently, Kenneth resided in Key West, Florida, where he was known as a friend to all.
He loved all deeply, but animals held a very special place in Kenneth’s heart. Hearing from his friends in Key West, Kenneth was known to sit on his porch and wait for any animals in need of help to comfort, care and feed them.
Kenneth is survived by his best friend and loving sister, Teri Hardin, and her husband, Barry Hardin; his niece, that he shared a deep love for Elton John with, Alexa Harper, and her husband, Rowdy Harper; his loving nephew, Landon Boutwell; and his uncles who he shared an unbreakable bond with, Frank Price (wife Judy) and Steve Price (wife Vickie). He also leaves behind cherished cousins and extended family members.
Kenneth may no longer reside with us, but the family is finding immense comfort knowing he is finally reunited with his loving mother and father.
