Kenneth's obituary

Kenneth Louie (Louie Geen Wun 雷健雲) ended his great lifelong adventure on November 16th, 2025 in Lakeport, California. Ken was born to mother Choi You Oi and father Louie Fook Ping in Toishan, Guangdong, China on November 4, 1952. He is survived by his loving wife Maria, as well as his three children: Jennifer (Stephen), Jason (Tracy), and Jasper (Katherine). He had 7 grandchildren, Javien, Devin, Paxton, Maddox, Rhys, Apollo, and Livia.

Ken was a character who loved his family and had an extreme passion for life. He tackled every day with an infectious energy and a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Ken’s adventurous spirit was evident in his lifelong love of the open road, which he often combined with camping trips that took him to the most rugged and beautiful corners of California where he enjoyed shooting guns and hanging around the campfire until the sun came up. A true chef at heart, he was known for his legendary cooking, turning simple ingredients into a feast through his amazing kung fu cooking style.

Known for his strong convictions and fierce loyalty, Ken never hesitated to stand up for what he believed was right, especially when it came to his family. Ken was fearless in life and wouldn’t hesitate to inform any adversary that he would kick their ass.

Ken was born in China and moved to the U.S. when he was 12. He started a family with his wife Maria and opened Chinese restaurants in Nice, San Francisco, and Redding, California before settling down in Lakeport in 1987. He and his family operated the Asian Dragon restaurant for 25 years. Ken was a fixture in Lakeport where he could be seen driving his purple 1956 pickup truck down Main Street, wearing his trimmed trucker hat and proudly displaying two American flags waving in the wind. Ken loved his wife of 50 years, was extremely proud of his kids, and loved the moments he spent with his grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and the many friends that were gifted with his presence.
