Background
Many kind, wonderful friends, neighbors, and extended family members have asked how they can support in this time of mourning. To them who have already given of their time and resources, the Cloud family extends our most sincere thanks. To others who are unsure how to contribute, this memorial website offers another way to help ensure to Ken a proper goodbye, and to his family, greater peace of mind.
Ken had neither a will nor life insurance, so until his estate is settled, the financial responsibility for his final expenses lies primarily with his children, Summer and Kyle, neither of whom has a consistent income at present.
The main expenses are as follows:
- Cremation: Ken's family was fortunate to find a helpful local mortuary to handle the cremation. Per the funeral director, "Direct Cremation starts at $1469."
- Memorial: Instead of a formal funeral service, Ken's family has elected to host a memorial at one of his favorite restaurants where guests can enjoy a delicious dinner, sharing stories and memories of Ken's life. This will likely cost about $25 a person.
- Probate: Ken did not leave a will. His estate will have to go through probate. According to a probate attorney we recently consulted, the estimated cost for this case is $5,000. This is the largest anticipated expense.
Again, to all who cherish Ken Cloud and his memory, however you show your love and support, the utmost gratitude! Contribute
