I will miss having Ken as a fellow EA traveler. He helped hold the community of EA patients together and fostered sharing between us as we traveled the EA road of tests, surgeries, successes and disappointments. He was a good friend to all he came in contact with and he will be missed greatly.

I was diagnosed with Ebstein's Anomaly in 1999 at age 41 when information was harder to get about what I was up against. I felt pretty alone since they said only one in 10,000 people had the condition. Ken was one of the first people who also had EA that I came in contact with. My notes from that time say he was 50 and had not yet had surgery. I believe we e-mailed a few times using our AOL accounts so he knew I was going to Mayo for surgery in July of 2000. My surgery went OK and they put a pig valve in place of my native valve. Recovery was painful and not fun. On day four I heard the phone in my room start ringing. It wasn't easy with my chest hurting to reach it but I was glad I did! It was Ken asking me how I was doing! He must have called the St. Mary's switchboard and asked to speak to me so they looked up my room and connected us. I was so glad that they did since only someone with EA can really relate to a person with the same challenge. It lifted my spirits to know I had another person in my corner and rooting for me to recover and thrive! I have and I will miss having Ken as the oldest EA patient champion I knew.

Very sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. He always kept in close contact with his family here in Carbonear Newfoundland, Canada. He was always very interested in what was happening here. Our thoughts and prayers are with Verna, Deborah and all of Ken’s family. God Bless. Will and Marg Butt, Carbonear.

Ken was the first person I talked to that also had Ebstein's Anomaly.  He was very helpful and supportive.  I'm so sorry for the loss of Ken

Ken was a kind and loving man and he will be missed. May his memory be a blessing.
