Kelly Merlene, 57, of Phoenix, passed away on January 11, 2023.
Kelly was born on August 18, 1965 to Robert (Bob) Merlene and Priscilla McClimans Merlene in Ashtabula, Ohio. Kelly grew up in Mesa, AZ and graduated from Dobson High School in 1983 and went on to study at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. Kelly became a Flight Attendant for Continental Airlines in 1987 and transitioned to United Airlines after the merger and was with the company until her passing. Kelly is the proud mother of two amazing children: Jeremy Bassham, age 23 and Jasmine Bassham, age 22. When Kelly had Jeremy, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Kelly excelled at supporting Jeremy and Jasmine through the many passions and aspirations of their lives. Kelly was an amazing cook, and a big fan of the Arizona Cardinals. She loved the theater, traveling the world (especially New York and Italy), music, and entertaining. She was an amazing host and always had her brownies ready for guests whether it was for 2 people or 20! She had many friends that adored her and will miss her greatly. She is survived by her father Robert Merlene; mother Priscilla Carpenter; sister Laurie Merlene; brother Greg Merlene; son Jeremy Bassham; daughter Jasmine Bassham; nieces Maranda Merlene, Alexia (Alex) Merlene, and Aubrey Merlene; aunt Janet Lamm; cousins Michael Lamm, Kathleen Brown, Juliet (Julie) Brown, Robert (Bobby) Merlini, Larry Clint, Kevin Clint, Ron Merlene, Jim Merlene, Debbie LaCroix, and Jacquie McCary.
There will be a funeral service and celebration of life at 10:30 am Friday January 20th at Corpus Cristi Catholic Church in Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Arizona.
