I attended Leominster High School with Kelley.  She had a wonderful sense of style….. her makeup, hair and clothes were always perfect.  More importantly,  she just seemed to have such a positive presence about her.  Whenever you’d see her she was either smiling or laughing.  A beautiful soul.

So sorry for your loss

I only recently heard about Kelly's passing. I felt very sad. Kelly was a good friend to my sister in law, Joan.
They met in Cobble Hill nursing home. Kelly was a very caring, compassionate and kind person.
We always enjoyed her company, her presence and her smile. Kelly was a also a good friend to me and my late husband, Howard. We would spend many hours during our Saturday visits with Joan talking about politics, art, and the state of the world. Saturday evening was a time to enjoy Chinese take out food and a time to connect and be together. Kelly had so much insight, intelligence, warmth and a good sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by me and Joan. I will always remember Kelly and I feel fortunate to have known her.
So hard to believe you left us a year ago!!
We miss u and love u

Can’t believe it’s been a year since you left. Thinking of your family. 🙏
So sorry to hear this. Kerry was my high school sweetheart’s (of sophomore and junior years) sister. I still remember her telling me to get back into touch with Michael when we crossed paths on college breaks.
(I wish I had). I still remember my Mom calling me when I was living in the Berkshires at my first job after college telling me he was gone. I guess she always knew he was my sweetheart and Kelly was always trying to put us back together.
Such a loss of two beautiful lives

Very sad news to hear. She was a lovely person and joy to talk to. I knew her from my NY days. Nice memories from NYC Brunch club days. Few years back she visited me in London. A big fan of the group The Kinks, she was so so excited I lived only about 100 metres from the pub where they first performed. RIP dear Kelley.
I am so sorry for your loss. Kelley was a very good friend and she had such a a free spirit. I will always remember the times we spent going to restaurants and concerts as well as the conversations we had about life.

My friend Lisa Schneider was a friend of Kelley's at Cobble Hill. She was very saddened by her passing. She spoke of Kelley's love of Orangutans. On behalf of Lisa, and in Kelley's memory, a donation was made to the Oranguatan Foundation International. May Kelley's memory be a blessing to all.
The entire Lafferty family had an enormous impact on me for my entire childhood. Collectively, they were loving, kind, generous, funny, creative, curious, entertaining, and sometimes irreverent- despite our Catholic school roots. While Nancy was my earliest friend and closest partner in crime, I shared special moments with each Lafferty (I even share a birthday with Shelagh). I treasure those memories.

I am truly heart-broken to hear about the loss of Kelley.

I will always remember the many times I would watch Saturday Night Live (when the show was very new) with Nancy, Kelley and Michael in the black and white living room on Old Farm Road in the early-mid 1970's.
Kelly and Michael were so much more sophisticated and knowledgeable than we were at the time, but Nancy and I tried to keep up with them. My brother Jamie and Michael were good friends, and went to an occasional concert together. I was desperate to go to a concert, so my brother promised to take me to a Janis Joplin / Jimmy Hendrix show the next time they came around. I was so excited, that I told everyone I knew about it. Each friend I told was truly impressed, until I shared my news with Kelley and Michael. They were rolling on the ground, laughing at me. They both knew that the two had been dead for years. Always so cool...
Rest in Peace, Kelley. You will be missed but lovingly remembered.
Nancy my deepest condolences to you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. 💔🙏🏼

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Though we lost touch I have fond memories of spending time together in Junior High and High School with Kelley. My deepest sympathy.

At times, when I find myself overwhelmed by the world, I search for quotes that can add clarity to the situation. Kelley had the same habit; when one of us found a quote that was particularly resonant, we’d make a point to share it.

We’d parse its meaning, laugh at its obviousness, relish the simple wisdom, and make a note to write it down so that it stuck. A new credo to live by.

I have no words of my own right now that can convey the immense loss I feel at my beautiful sister’s sudden passing. But, I did find a few quotes that I know would get her nod of agreement. “Read it again” she’d say. “I love it.”

“Sometimes, only one person is missing, and the whole world seems depopulated.”
- Alphonse de Lamartine, Méditations Poétiques

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
- Winnie the Pooh

All my love,
Nancy

My aunt Kelly has empowered me with her love since I was a young boy. As a child, I wasn't able to pronounce her name correctly, so I called her by my own term of endearment, “Kia”. This nickname stuck and is still how I refer to her to this day.

I am so thankful to have enjoyed her company on so many occasions. She was the quintessential cool aunt, exposing me to so much of the music and culture that has shaped who I am today. I am eternally grateful for her influence and love.

There will never be another like her; she possessed her own unique brand of charisma and kindness that I believe the world needs now more than ever.

I will miss her every day.

With all my love,
Cole

Nancy, Kerry, Shelagh, and Shannon, I am so so sorry for your loss and I'm thinking of all of you. Kelly was unapologetically original, which is such a rare thing. Growing up, I always thought she was a badass, and I'd be shocked at the things she did and said, but laughing and in awe the whole time. I realize now the courage it took for Kelley to be authentic in a world that honors conformity, and hope that when your kids look at her life, that is what they see.

With all the memories I’ve had with Auntie Kelley it’s very hard to cope with her loss. However, each and every one only reminds me of how caring and wonderful of an aunt she was to me. I’m very grateful to have spent time with her as a child and and deeply saddened by the sudden loss of someone so loved by everyone around her

I love you and miss you Auntie Kelley

To my dear friend I am so sorry for your enormous loss. A sister is irreplaceable, my heart breaks for you and your family. Much love to you and your entire family during this difficult time . Love 💕 The Chlupsa Family
My dearest Kelley, you are singularly responsible for at least half of the laugh lines on my face. Though we hadn't lived in the same state for over 30 years, you always were a phone call away with funny stories and interesting observations about humanity. You listened so well and knew exactly how to help me turn my grief into gratitude. I'm digging deep inside now to try to find that path again.

I feel blessed that we had so many fun adventures together, meeting crazy people, eating strange foods, bartering with locals until you got what you wanted, or if you didn't, leaving with a quick turn of your heels and invoking Nana's "Then I shan't have it." You were always up for doing anything and going anywhere,

I feel blessed that I had you as a sister to grow up with, a friend to roam around NYC with, and a beloved aunt to teach my kids swears. I feel brokenhearted that you died alone because of this quarantine, but to ease that pain, I imagine you thinking to yourself, "FFS, what kind of f*ckery is this?" and that gets me laughing again. I miss you and I love you, Kel.

Sending my condolences to Kelley’s family and friends.
The news of my aunt's passing was devastating to me for she holds such a special place in my heart. I will forever miss hearing her talk about the latest thing she read and the countless times she has made me and loved ones laugh. She had a unique lens with which she saw the world and one could instantly see her wisdom upon having a conversation with her. You mean so much to me, Auntie Kelley, and I love you. It's hard to believe you are not here physically anymore, but you are here in our hearts.

Much love, Michaela
To Kelley' s family,
So many great memories in the old Merriam Parkway/Smith Street neighborhood when life was simple. Keeping the entire Lafferty family in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
