Keith's obituary
Keith Reed, 64, of Orofino, ID, passed away on September 24, 2023, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Keith was born on August 4th, 1959, to Mary Reed in San Francisco, Ca. After moving around to many places throughout his childhood, he graduated from Rodgers High School in Spokane, WA. in 1977 and went on to study to be an electrician. He worked many different jobs through the years including logging before he landed a job in 1989 at the Orofino Correctional Intuition. He was a long-time employee of IDOC in Orofino and then NICI in Cottonwood where he worked as a correctional officer, correctional sergeant and a maintenance specialist. He was looked up to by his staff and peers and gained the nickname "calming sergeant" from his lieutenant for being able to handle any situation.
He met his first wife, Tammie Reed, in Spokane, WA. and married her after a short time of dating. They went on to have 3 children Brian, Christopher and DeAnna. After many years together they came to a mutual agreement to separate. Not long after the separation Keith had moved on to start dating Debbie Cady of Orofino to whom he became engaged and gained two more sons Jon and Josh.
Keith was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He always tried his best to support them and always made it clear he was only a quick message away. Keith was passionate for wood working, the outdoors and could often be found on the North Fork of the Clearwater River when he wasn’t at home.
Anyone who knew Keith knew that he was the most loving man a family could ask for.
Keith was predeceased by his mother Mary Reed, his son Christopher Reed along with other extended family members. He is survived by his fiancé' Debbie Cady, his children Brian Reed, DeAnna Reed(Larkin), Jon Cady, Josh Cady, 16 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life on October 21st starting at 2pm the location will be announced soon. The family will be providing BBQ and would like to ask that guests bring their favorite side dish and favorite memories to share.
