Keith's obituary

In loving memory of Keith Byron Deputy who passed away peacefully at home on Sunday May 26, 2024. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

One of the most genuine souls on this planet, he was a thoughtful, hardworking, selfless, and generous man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends. He worked tirelessly to ensure that he provided for his family all while ensuring that those he worked with were supported and knew their worth and value.

Early in his life, Keith learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in all of us. He was always there for those who needed him. He was a man of strong faith and he taught us the importance of family, hard work, and always doing what was right.

Keith had a remarkable career of leadership within the agricultural industry and will always be recognized and noted for his dedication and hard work. He served on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: Borderland Gin, Mesa Farmers Gin, Southwest Irrigated Growers (SWIG), Supima Association, Calcot, Diversified Farmers, New Mexico Pest Management Group, South Central New Mexico Cotton Boll Weevil Control Committee, South Central New Mexico Pink Bollworm Control Committee, Mesilla Valley Pest Management Committee, Elephant Butte Irrigation District (EBID), and participated in the El Paso Central Appraisal District Committee.

As a third-generation farmer, he worked hard to build his family business, Deputy Farms, Inc. with the relentless support of his wife, Allison, and son, Jack. His crops included cotton, pecans, corn, onions, alfalfa, tomatoes, bell peppers, asparagus, pine trees, wheat, and triticale. He had a passion for fast cars and the need for speed, loved sunrises & sunsets, roses, animals (even those he was allergic to), 4-wheeling, and snow skiing.

Beyond his impressive career, he was a proud father and loving husband. He always bragged about his children’s accomplishments and how they were able to support him, Allison, and the farm throughout his cancer journey.

He is preceded in death by his father (Kent Deputy), mother (Della Pixley Deputy), and brother (Brett Scott). He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Allison Stone Deputy, daughters Lauren Deputy and Kenda Deputy (her husband Euriko Torrazza Perez), son Jack Deputy, sister Christy Deputy, and cousin JoEllen M. Whitley. He is also survived by many extended family and in-laws whom he brought joy to with his smile and infectious laugh.

Dad, you’re now at peace but you will live on in our hearts forever. We love you so much. May you rest in peace with your angels.

P.S. You’re in charge of keeping the grass in Heaven green.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 27 at the Mesa Farmers Cotton Gin at 18320 Stern Dr. in Vado, NM.
