The Strongest Person I Know

for Kayla Robison

by Adam Burress

Verse Intro

Found out about the cancer two years ago

Thought our life had a plan, what did we know

Verse 1

First we had to read a pamphlet about the chemo risk

And Then we try to figure out how to tell the kids

By the way I don't know if I can handle this

And be a strong enough man today

Now she spends her time in hospital rooms

I watch the kids and try to fight doom and gloom

Learn to cope with an empty bedroom

It's one day at a time I say

Chorus 1

Because my woman is the strongest person I know

She might be small but don't let that fool you though

About 88 pounds if she's soaking wet

But I haven't seen nothing that can stop her yet

cuz she's the strongest

Verse Intro

Found out about the cancer two years ago

Thought our life had a plan, what did we know

Verse 2

Round after round the chemo did persist

She's worried about her hair I said it won't be missed

Because you're still beautiful I must insist

It's not the hair that makes you the one

When Covid hit she did chemo alone

Could only talk Through the iPad and telephone

The situation left lots of things to bemone

But that girl she kept fighting on

Chorus 2

Because my woman is the strongest person that's for sure

She's fighting cancer now was born premature

You may not know it all, but just be assured

She's had to fight every day just to be on the earth

cuz she's the strongest

Verse Intro

Found out about the cancer two years ago

Thought our life had a plan, what did we know

Verse 3

It was so hard to watch her go through that hell

But she finished her chemo got to ring the bell

And the biopsy showed the cancer was expelled

You've been amazing girl through the strife

She get to come home with me and the kids again

She came with me when I played gigs on the weekend

I can't believe that I still have my best friend

Some of the happiest times of my life

Chorus 3

Because my woman is the strongest person there will ever be

This tiny girl mad a huge impact on me

Ask anyone and then you'll see

There is one thing I can guarantee

that she's the strongest

I am so sorry Kayla has passed. She fought a long, hard battle against leukemia and she deserved to win. I am keeping all her family in my prayers. ๐Ÿ’—
Kayla always had such a positive attitude and I fully expected her to beat leukemia and live the long life that she deserved. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known and will be missed by so many. I am honored to have known her and been her aunt.ย
