Kay's obituary

Kay Francis Wirth passed away on July 24, 2024. Born to Myrtie Mae and John Richard Barnhill on November 8, 1938 in Portsmouth, Virginia, she was loved dearly.

As the USAF Systems Command Executive Assistant, Kay administered the day-to-day operations of the worldwide Headquarters Office, located at Andrews Air Force Base, MD. Kay performed these services flawlessly, with the highest degree of professionalism and excellence. No praise was too high for Kay from the many four-star generals and other Military and Government officials who appreciated her stellar work.

Kay's love extends to her daughter Terry (Ann) Pfautz, who remembers her as a loving soul, and the firm foundation to her growing family. Her daughter and three grandchildren, Jessica Dawson, Nicholas Pfautz, and Jennifer Sherman, will carry her legacy of integrity, respect, and kindness. Spending time with her great grandchildren, Declan, Jack, and Bruce brought so much joy to her life.

An avid gardener, bird watcher, and explorer of the beach, Kay loved nature. Her family will cherish the memories of hunting for shark teeth, decorating christmas ornaments, and making pepper jelly with her.

Kay was her family’s strong rock. Her spirit was feisty and stubborn to a fault at times, though she loved fiercely. She was generous, creative, and loyal to her core, always putting others before herself. She will live on in the hearts of all of those who love her.
