My thoughts are with your family, Katie was a kind and thoughtful person, thinking about how she could support and lift up other people. She will be missed.

OMG I’m heartbroken for Katie’s family, especially Megan. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Katie but our conversations always picked up where they left off.
I am still in a bit of shock.  I was at SCI-arc with Katie.  I was lucky enough to befriend the texas crew.  Katie, Carlos, Josh and Joe Bob.  I was NOT from Texas I was from NY.  I was also...seemingly the ONLY introvert among them...maybe Josh a little.  Katie and I were like yin and yang.  I hope I grounded her a little and she definitely pulled me out of my comfort zones on many occasions as did Carlos.  I fondly remember our house in Venice where Carlos lived downstairs.  What fun we had.  Parties, dancing, laughing and talking about life and learning about who we were and who we were becoming.  Life is a rollercoaster.  Lots of highs and lots of lows......but we all made it!  That is why this is sooooo difficult to process.  My heart goes out to her family....... what a life force she was.  I am so sorry for your loss and everyone who was lucky and blessed enough to have crossed her path in this life.  We will meet again.  Peace and Love Katie.  I love you.  Jackie xxoo

I met Katie when we worked together at Lucky Brand. She had style and grace and was enormously talented and loved by everyone. My heart goes out to her family for their incredible loss.

Katie was in my class at SCIArc - she was witty and smart and full of energy. She was a hard worker and had a lot of talent for whatever she was passionate about. We didn’t stay connected after graduation but I wanted to send a note. I’m so sorry this happened - such a raw deal for the entire family. Much love -

My sincerest condolences to the Hurley family. Katie was such a rarity in today’s world. Her smile lit up the room and her laughter was contagious.

I met Katie at church and later we had several classes together in High School. We were also on the debate team together. We weren’t friends that hung out together outside of school but she did go out of her way to talk to me and share some personal aspects of her life. Years later when we were in college our paths crossed again and I was in a precarious situation where I hadn’t eaten and drank too much, I was alone sitting on a corner with my head in my hands and Katie appears out of nowhere and sits right beside me and holds my hair back while I got sick. She asked me where my friends were and kept rubbing my back. She stayed with me until someone I came with showed up looking for me. She was definitely a better friend to me than most of the friends I came with. The world was so much better with her in it.
