Kathy's obituary
Kathy Ann Waldman, 73, formerly of Columbus, NE, passed away September 10, 2024. She was born May 28, 1951, to Lloyd Richard and Margaret Ann (Drum) Waldman.
Kathy aka “Waldo” was a proud graduate of Columbus High School, class of 1969, and lived most of her life in the Lincoln area.
Kathy is survived by her son Brett Richard; grandchildren, Bentley Richard, Brayden William, Brylee Ginger, and Aryia Grace; four brothers, Jerry (Trish) Waldman of Georgetown, TX, Ricke (Colleen) Waldman of Renton, WA, Randy (Patti) Waldman of Taylorsville, GA, Braddley (Rebecca) Waldman of Lincoln, NE, and many cousins, nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and cherished son, Blake Allan.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Kathy. She loved hanging out with her family & friends, a red beer in hand, playing card games, having fun with her grandchildren, and as much as she could, attending her grandchildren’s, nieces’ and nephews’ activities throughout her life.
Kathy was involved in Girl Scouts as a child, and she was a boy scout den leader for Brett’s troupe. She was very patriotic and loved the USA. She was a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW. She loved dancing her whole life. She loved cars, especially mustangs and fixed one up with her dad so she could race it.
In High School Kathy worked at A&W; she worked at Dale Electronics after high school. She lived and studied in Texas at Amarillo College from approximately 1973-75. She then received a degree in English for Business Communications @ Platte Community College in 1977-78. She studied to be an administrative assistant later in life at the Lincoln School of Commerce in 1993 while working at the UNL Ag Department periodically from 1988-2018. She also worked for the State of Nebraska.
Kathy was a collector of many things. Especially dolls, Coca-Cola collectibles, cows, dish-sets, and holiday décor. She loved the holidays! Family remembers the amazing Halloween haunted houses in her garage when she would dress up as wicked witch of the west! Above all, she was a collector of memories and loved reminiscing about the past.
Come and share your memories and stories - A Celebration of Life for Kathy’s friends and family will be held at The Friedhoff Building (Brick side) in Columbus, NE on October 12th Open House 3:00-6:00pm.
