Kathy's obituary

Kathy Jean Kilkenny, 67 years old, passed away on Sunday morning at her home at 7am on August 7, 2022. She was born in Hartland, Maine on March 11, 1955, the daughter of Ted and Esther Stewart of Skowhegan, Maine. She graduated from Skowhegan Area High School and Bloomfield Academy in Skowhegan, Maine, on June 14, 1973. She worked for the Town of Skowhegan for twenty-eight years. She summered  at Augusta West Campground in Winthrop, Maine with the love of her life and life of the party, Sheldon Kilkenny, who passed prior to Kathy's passing. They enjoyed the laughter, friendships, many anniversaries, and the fireside chats with so many wonderful friends at Augusta West Campground. Kathy loved watching the little ones grow up to be adults and have their own children and especially cherished giving them advice as they learned how to maneuver through their lives; none more special than Kale Malmsten, who grew up, got married, had his own children and took over his dad's legacy of owning and running Augusta West Campground.  Kathy leaves behind her mother, Esther Stewart, 92, now residing in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her dad, Ted Stewart passed before her on June 26, 2012 at 85 years old. She is also survived by her sister, Rachael, (Rachael's husband Tom and son, Adam) Streifel of West Palm Beach, Florida. She is also survived by her husband Sheldon's  brother, Rodney, (wife Sheila, and son Brandon) Kilkenny of Madison, Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Avenue, Skowhegan, Maine.  She has chosen cremation and will be laid to rest, combined with the ashes of her huband at the Kilkenny grave-site, at Southside Cemetery, 33 McLellan St., Skowhegan, Maine. Per Kathy's request, there will be no public services.  Donations may be made in Kathy's memory to the charity of your choice in Kathy's name.
