Kathy's obituary

On Monday, August 3, 2020, Kathy Ann Howell, God’s faithful servant, went home to the Lord at the age of 61 after a brief illness and surgical complications.

Born on May 25, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan to David Kuhlwein and Mary Kuhlwein, she spent her early years in the Detroit area and grew up in Colorado.

Kathy met her husband, Keith Howell, in 1987 in Denver, Colorado. They complemented each other perfectly and were teammates. Keith was “Tim” and Kathy was “Al” as they were always working together on a real-time home improvement project and made a great team in all aspects of life. They married on November 4, 1989 in Houston, Texas and had two daughters, Kelsey and Krystal, when they resided in Ventura, California.

After the birth of Kelsey, Kathy dedicated her life to being an exemplary mother and wife. The love and passion she had for her family stemmed from her unwavering faith in God. She was a light to all of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Kathy’s devotion to God and her family, coupled with her perseverance, quick-witted humor, outgoing personality, and contagious smile, made her memorable and truly one of a kind.

Kathy also enjoyed the little things in life; such as tending to her flowers and garden, immersing herself in a good novel, vacationing to the beach and mountains, and observing the passing of the hummingbirds and wildlife.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Keith Howell; daughters, Kelsey Howell and Krystal Howell, brother Scott Kuhlwein, mother Mary Kuhlwein, mother in-law and father in-law Bob and Lorene Howell, brother-in-law and his wife Craig and Linda Howell, along with numerous nephews and nieces, and other family members and friends. Her father, David Kuhlwein and brother Guy Kuhlwein preceded her in death.

A celebration of life will be held at Taylor Lake Village Community Park (500 Kirby Blvd, Taylor Lake Village, TX 77586) on October 1, 2020 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Clear Creek Community Church or Compassion International.

Psalm 100: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

2 Corinthians 5: 6-10: 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
