Kathy and I went on 5 trips together. We also visited Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford Museum many times with our dear friend, Peggy. All great fun. Kathy loved the travel. The first trip was to Clarksville Tennessee to view the total solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017. Our retired colleague, Peggy Butz, also went on that trip. It was such a great experience. Beautiful weather, and perfect to view an eclipse. All Science for me and Kathy!! (Although we did have dinner at a White Castle the evening that we arrived!) One of our very best trips was to view Mt. Rushmore out in South Dakota. It was a long bus ride out there, but well worth it. On October 10, 2019 we woke up to an 8 inch snow fall in Deadwood!! We were both in shock!
LOL That slowed us down a day, but we had already enjoyed the view of Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. On the way home we drove through the Badlands and visited Wall Drug. What a spectacular trip. Kathy's quick wit and sense of humor made it even more fun. We also did a trip to Finger Lakes (NY) with our retired teaching colleagues, Peggy, her sister, Phyllis, and Millie in June 4, 2019. We toured the Corning Museum of glass and the Jello Museum. And just Kathy and I did a trip to Atlantic city, Cape May and Philladelphia about September 29, 2020. We saw the Liberty Bell and stood in Front of the Rocky statue. So much fun. We walked the Atlantic city boardwalk and enjoyed the ocean. Our last trip was to Vermont October 19, 2021.. Kathy and I wanted to see the (Barre) Rock of Ages Quarry! Kathy was all about the Science. Kathy roomed with her dear life long friend, Jean. We also toured the Vermont Teddy Bear design studio. So many great memories. Kathy and I both loved our coffee. Many mornings, she would text me very early to see if I was up for conversation... we would both put on a pot of coffee and talk for over an hour. Even when she was in the hospital, she knew that I stayed up late and if she couldn't sleep, she would call me and we had many conversations that lasted over an hour. For the last 8 years of my career at RHS, Kathy and I both would work late, till about 5pm... and we would walk out of the school together, long after everyone else had gone.. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of Kathy.. I loved her like a sister and miss her very much.. We had many great times together. (I have many great pictures of Kathy from our trips, but they are all saved to my iphone. not on my computer.
