Kathy's obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Kathryn Rayburn, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on April 2, 2026, at the age of 74. Kathryn, affectionately known as Kathy, was born on March 1, 1952, in Carbondale, Illinois, to the late Harry (Pony) and Opal Addison. She spent her final days at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with dementia.
Kathy's life was a testament to the power of love, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family. She was the beloved wife of Harry Rayburn, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. They built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support, settling in Florissant, Missouri, where they raised three children: Ryan (Amy) Rayburn, Robyn (Brian) Tinker, and Annie Rayburn (Steve Nord).
A proud graduate of Hazelwood High School in 1971, Kathy's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when she founded her own business, On The Spot Signs, in 1992. From the comfort of her home, she channeled her boundless creativity into designing logos, artwork, and vinyl signage for countless businesses in the St. Louis area. Her work left an indelible mark on the community and showcased her artistic talents.
Kathy's passions extended far beyond her professional endeavors. Her heart was most full when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren, Mason Tinker, Lucy Rayburn, Sydney Tinker, and Hayden Nord, who lovingly called her "Maw Maw." Kathy’s love knew no bounds as she dedicated her time to creating cherished memories with them, from playful moments on the floor with her youngest ones to joyful excursions for toys, slurpees, and gaming cards. Her home was a haven for sleepovers, and her kitchen a sanctuary of warmth, where she delighted everyone with her exceptional chicken and dumplings and biscuits and gravy.
An avid lover of the great outdoors, Kathy found joy in camping, fishing, and cooking. She was a voracious reader and found solace in the pages of a good book. Her love for television brought her many hours of enjoyment, especially her favorite shows, Survivor and Gilmore Girls.
Kathy's caring nature and generous spirit were evident in every aspect of her life. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to all the extended family and friends who supported them throughout Kathy's journey, and to Vitas Healthcare Hospice for their compassionate care in her final days.
Predeceased by her parents and her cherished sister, Charlotte Kiriakos, Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Her memory will forever be treasured by her surviving family, who will hold her close in their hearts and continue to honor her life through their own.
Kathy, Mom, Maw Maw—you are deeply loved and will be missed always. May your spirit find peace, and may your memory be a guiding light for all who knew and loved you.
