Wishing my beautiful cousin Kathy a happy heavenly birthday, and sending love to her family. Growing up, I thought that Kathy was so lucky to have been born in July, the height of summer fun. Kathy always had that golden sunlight in her eyes, her hair, her smile and her spirit. Miss my cousin and grateful for all the good times.

My deepest condolences during this time to Kathy’s family and friends. She made such an impact on me, we worked together briefly..she had a heart of gold and will be so missed.

Kathy was one of my very first friends. We met as children on Weaver Rd. in 1956, and though I’ve lived far away we kept in touch, often during those late nights when she couldn’t sleep, and with me being four time zones earlier we would message late at night. My deepest condolences Dave, and family. I will miss Kathy deeply.

Growing up, I always looked forward to our family’s summertime visits with the Long Island Straleys in West Sayville. My Dad and Kathy’s Dad were brothers.

  • One of my fondest memories of those visits is of Kathy and me sitting on a rooftop, like two cats, high above the ground and closer to the sky and treetops. We were sharing our dreams of what we wanted to be when we grew up.  Kathy wanted to be a successful hairdresser like our Uncle Anthony. I aspired to be a writer.
  • I did become a writer and Kathy channeled her desire to create beauty into her luminous creative spirit and gift for caring that brightened the world around her, making it a warmer, more welcoming and more beautiful place for her beloved family and everyone and everything she cherished and held dear.
  • Every time I see a rose in bloom, a glowing full moon or a child’s smiling face,  I will see Kathy.
  • She had a beautiful light that will always shine on everyone who loved her.
  • My husband James joins me in sending heartfelt condolences and wishes for peace and comfort to David, their children and grandchildren and all Kathy’s loved ones.

I am saddened by this news of my old friend and neighbor. We grew up together on Weaver Road in West Sayville. Rest in Peace.
