Kathy was a real one.  She had such a big heart and a calming presence.  I remember a big obnoxious drunk that didn't want to go to jail.  He fought with us when he was arrested and attempted to kick out the car windows when he was placed in the back of a black & white.  Sgt. Ryan came over and spoke to him like his mother:  "You ought to be ashamed of the way you're behaving..."  By the end, this big guy tearfully apologized and went to the tank to sober up without further incident.  Kathy could do that.  And she also watched after her officers like a mother hen.  I remember making a big life decision and talking to her about it.  You could have those conversations on PM Watch - after the bars closed at 2 and before the sun came up.  She gave me some wise counsel that was full of genuine care and concern.  My condolences to the family.  I have no doubt where her soul is.  Thank you for everything Kathy.  The weary day is won and over the soul lies the peace of God.

Enjoying a beautiful afternoo…
2024, Seal Rock, San Diego, CA, USA
Enjoying a beautiful afternoon sharing memories and Kathy’s move to San Diego. This day is especially sweet as it was 2 weeks before her hospitalization, I’m thankful for this memory.
Your mom had such a big heart. I loved that she was so real and down to Earth and never wanted to attract attention. She cared and always wanted to help. She knew who she was and had nothing to prove. …and she loved ALL of you tremendously! You were her life. Hold your heads up high, ‘cause you ALL carry her in you: her humility, mellowness, her caring heart and soft spoken but strong way. She was beautiful- inside and out! I regret that we never made that girls trip she wanted to do. I will truly miss her.
