with condolences from Ruth Netting
What I remember most is your mom always brought people together. She taught me along with Penny about teepeeing. Especially a girl and her family up the street from her. Your grandmother would buy all the toilet tissue. She bought cheap tissue in large quantities. One time the outdoor lights flashed out just as Penny jumped down from a tree. Penny and and I ended up in the principal’s office over someone who threw a raw egg or two at the girl’s house. Though your mom was the instagator of the TPing, she was never blamed.
In tenth grade, we had a history teacher that seated us my shortest to tallest. Your mom was first in our row and I sat behind her. And, your mom adopted me into the group. I became very sick that year and spent time in the hospital. Your mom and Penny visited me every day. When I was sent home to recover, she brought everyone to my home.
She, Penny and I we’re inseparable. We would all go together and dance together and I started 📞 your Grand Mom like Penny did. If I had problems I would talk to your Grandmother rather rather than my mother.
We would walk to Norton to go swimming. We walked everywhere until Penny inherited her brother Ricky’s red Rambler. We would drive to an area in Wadsworth that we all knew was haunted. A bridge there was called called CRY BABY bridge. We would stop on the bridge and one of us would make baby sounds. This never scared any of us. We would announce “oh Penny, oh Kath, oh Penny”.
Sometime during our Summer between 11th and 12th grade, your mother grew four inches. I inherited your mom’s blue jeans. They were my pride and joy because my dearest friend had worn them first. We were both blessed with long legs and so they fit me perfectly.
And, there were always parties at your mom’s home. Mom was always there keeping the table full of goodies and singing along with us to some of the songs. We had so much fun at your Grandmother’sand Grandfather’s home.
Then, Penny’s family moved away into a different school district in a different city. Penny kept going to Barberton High School until the girl whose house we Taped found out. We never knew how she found out. And, Penny sadly went to another high school.
We all graduated and Kath and I went off to college. We had to take three English classes where themes were called for. Eventually I was not only writing my themes but your mom’s themes as well. It was for me a gift of love for your mom.
One day she was so excited because she not only received an A but, her/my theme was read aloud as an example of a well written theme. We danced in our happiness.
Then I met my husband to be and was married between semesters and we were sadly separated.
But, I lived every day with great joy of ever meeting and loving my most beautiful friend Kath.
