Kathleen's obituary

Kathleen Rose Inks, age 48, passed away on January 3rd 2020. It is impossible to capture a person in an obituary, and especially someone whose adult life was largely defined by drug addiction. To some, Kathy was just a junkie — when they saw her addiction, they stopped seeing her. And what a loss for them. Because Kathy was hilarious, and warm, and fearless, and resilient. In a system that seems to have hardened itself against addicts and is failing them every day, she befriended people who advocated for and believed in her until the end.

During her last few years, her disease brought her to places of incredible darkness, and this darkness compounded on itself, as each unspeakable thing that happened to her and each horrible thing she did in the name of her disease exponentially increased her pain and shame. To have empathy for those who are tortured and succumb to this modern plague is exceptionally difficult but is the best of what it means to be human.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Jordyn Clark, husband Jared Clark; her mother, Beverly Inks; her sister Elizabeth Forth, husband Mark Forth; her brother Scott Inks, wife Kathy Inks; her beloved nieces Kara Roland, husband Blake Roland and Lindsey Glaser. She is preceded by her father, Donald Inks and her grandparents, John and Lucille LoPrince-DiCicco and Alva and Elizabeth Mckettrick-Inks.
