Kathleen's obituary
Kathleen peacefully passed away at her home on November 21, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson’s/dementia and (Cancer)Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Kathleen was born on October 27, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the only child of her parents, Lester J. Anderson and Karren A. Anderson.
Kathleen grew up working alongside her parents, who owned and operated Evergreen Dry Cleaning for 40 years.
She graduated from Skyline High School in 1965 and went on to LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah where she graduated in 1968.
She worked for many years at the Homestead in Heber, Utah and then went to work as secretary for the Silvercreek subdivision near Park City, Utah.
She met her husband (Fred) drag racing Ford Mustangs (she had a 1968 and he had a 1967) and of course she always won! They got married in 1969 and were happily married for 55 fantastic years!
When she graduated from high school (1965) she bought some land in Silvercreek, Utah where she and her family built their house in 1983.
She loved animals and had dogs and horses. She skied, fished and hunted.
She enjoyed going and cutting Christmas trees in Nevada (up to 400 trees) with cousins who would sell them in Ogden.
Another hobby was ceramics where she had her own molds and kiln to fire her porcelain.
When they retired she started a business selling on Amazon just to keep busy, which still gave them time to travel and run their business.
During the later years she and her husband spent a lot of time during the summer at Bear Lake, Utah with their family and friends.
Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband, Fredrick Charles Handsaker; two sons, Clinton J. Handsaker (Katrina) and Trenton Clayne Handsaker (Aynie); and six cherished grandchildren: Alixandra Piccolo (Lucas), Hadley Saunders (Andrew), Jayden Rogers (Austin), Harper, Briggs, and Henley Handsaker. She was also a proud great-grandmother to two beloved great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Intermountain Hospice team in Heber, Utah and all the family members
and friends who provided support and care throughout Kathleen’s illness.
