Kathy was born on September 6, 1957 to Lemuel and Mary Bruyea in Rochester, New York, the youngest of six children. After graduating from Our Lady Of Mercy High School she went on to Monroe Community College.

After graduation, she worked for many years in the Healthcare Insurance field. 

In the mid 1980’s, she met Thomas Ellison, and they wed in 1990. Together they had two children, Lindsay and Sean.  In 1995 Kathy and Thomas moved to Houston, Texas where they raised their children. In 1999 Kathy and Thomas divorced and she began the journey of single motherhood. After her children completed their education Kathy decided to move back to her hometown of Rochester, New York in 2014.

Kathy was dedicated to her family and a wonderful and loving mother and memaw. Kathy excelled at propping up her family and friends and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. 

We will miss her greatly.

Kathy was predeceased by her father and mother. She is survived by her daughter, Lindsay; son, Sean; granddaughters, Ellison and Lyra; siblings, Barbara, Charles, Margret, Ann, and Marilyn; and countless nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The American Heart Association. There will be a memorial service on May 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
