Katie's obituary
Katheryn Ann Thorson
05/08/1999-10/21/2025
Katheryn (Katie) Ann Thorson, 26, gained her “hero wings” on October 21, 2025, surrounded by love in Kansas City Missouri.
She was born on May 8,1999 to Holly Doppenberg, in Burnsville, MN. Growing up in Minnesota allowed Katie, and her family, the joy of spending time outdoors. Many adventures were had between her and her brother, Cole Doppenberg, resulting in memories made.
Katie touched the hearts of everyone she met from an early age. From singing “You are my sunshine” to her grandma to exclaiming to everyone “I’m on top of the world!” To be around her was to be around love.
Katie had a gift for free hand drawing at one point wanting to become a tattoo artist. Her love for everything nature came through daily; from gardening, fishing adventures, and exploring her surroundings. Katie’s greatest passion was being an amazing mother to her son Mykah Lee. To witness her parenting was truly a beautiful site. She was made to be his mom, and she did it with grace and ease. She was fortunate to have the support of her fiancé Devin Elliott to be a stay-at-home mom and pursue her passion for parenting, while enjoying new adventures of traveling across the United States with her little family.
She had a spice for adventure and meeting people with her travels came natural to her. Everywhere she went she touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Katie’s loving nature proceeds her even in her passing. Katie was a registered organ donor and was set to help other families nationwide.
Katie survived by her son Mykah Lee Thorson, Fiancé, Devin Elliott, mother, Holly Doppenberg, brother, Cole Doppenberg, grandmother Barabara Bleyenberg, grandfather, Bob Bleyenberg, Bleyenberg family, Doppenberg family, Elliott family, and everyone she touched.
A Celebration of Life will take place on November 15th, 2025, at Breezy Barn from 3-6pm. More details to follow soon.
