Thinking of you as I do every day, I am filled with gratitude for the joy of your spirit and friendship. Dance on my dear Ka. Dance on....
Thinking of you today Katherine now that you are with Liane and Denis and Eric and Kevin and Jeremy and Adrian in eternity, no doubt all of you organizing a project in heaven for all the storytellers there. Much love P
Thinking of you Katherine today and remembering so many good times going back to grade school at St Joseph's in Montreal and flashing forward to the sometimes sensational sometimes hugely challenging days of KYTES in Toronto. We worked so well together with KYTES and we both benefitted so much from our work with the young participants. Love you sister forever!

I am so very sorry to hear this sad news - and to hear it too late to attend the celebration of the extraordinary Ka's life. I was blessed to share many wonderful adventures with Kathy in Montreal, London, and Mykonos when we were young. I cannot put adequately in words the magic and joy that she brought to my life. Suffice it to say that she was one of the most loving, generous, and creative people I have ever had the great privilege to meet. May her spirit live on in those who loved her. My deepest sympathies to Steven and Marielle. What a blessing we have all shared. We will not meet another like her in this lifetime.

Blessings for my dear Heart Sister, Katherine. Her Boundless Compassion, Fearless Courage and Deep Love for her family and community shines as a Pure Light for All to see in this and all worlds. Peace, Sandy
My condolences to Steve and his daughter. What a wonderful presentation of life for Katherine this evening. May she Rest In Peace and stay within your hearts. All my best Mario Iusi.
Dear Steve and Mishki, My deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear wife and mom. Katherine and I studied at The National Film Board together, in a very supportive group of aspiring young actors and directors and later in Toronto, I was fortunate to work with her on the K.Y.T.E.S. and V.O.I.C.E. Projects. Katherine was then and is now a shining star. Rest In Peace, lovely friend.

My profound condolences to Steven and Miskhi and all of Katherine's family. I regret I will not be able to attend the memorial because of recent memories. This is a poem I wrote on learning of Katherine's passing. The names at the end are those we used in correspondence, mine based on my character in Prince on the Punk. I don't know why Katherine called herself Madame Tinkerbelle, but it certainly suited her . . . (Sorry if does not survive the formatting.)

KatΒ

We drifted apart
As so many do
Over so many years.
When I heard you were departing
I didn’t go--I should have done.
And I should feel more guiltyIf I did not feel
That you are still here
And laughing at me ironically
Your gamin head tossed back
Your dancing eyes
Still living a life of passion
For life.
Undisturbed by the mere fact
That it is gone --
For you are not.
And all of us who knew you --
Had that rare privilege --
For us you are still here
Like a pillar of light.
A laughing pillar of light.Β

But much asI seek shelter
In that beam
I know thatI will never again
Feel the infectious ripple
Of your creativity
The moxy of your style
The sunshine
You radiated.Β

And I breathe again --
And I am sitting up late
Editing the program
For β€˜Prince and the Punk’
With you
In the perfect knowledge
That all of the dreams open
Tomorrow night.Β

I know that I will go there often.Β
Goodnight, Madame Tinkerbelle,
Love, Fraude

I first met Katherine when she directed my youth group in a theatrical performance for social workers. Her compassion, kindness and joy made a huge difference in my life. May she and her family know our gratitude. Sending love and prayers.

Katherine was my good friend from an early age. We were in the same class through primary school at St Joseph School in Montreal.
Later we were to follow a similar career path as professional actors, she in film and me in theatre. We teamed up in 1983 to co-found the KYTES program with Kevin Lee in Kensington Market, Toronto. Katherine was a creative force much loved by me and the young participants. Her smile was so warm and direct, her laugh so huge and her courage so clear. She inspired all of us. We created many new plays together and had so many good times. It was truly "magic" as she used to say. Love you forever my friend and see you in bliss !
