Born into a family of 7 in Lewiston, Maine to Joseph & Amelia Polisky, she was educated in Lewiston schools and had various jobs from waiting tables to working in the old Shoe Shop in Rumford.
In 1949, Kay met ‘Archie’ Surette at local dance and they fell in love. They went on to be married for 33 years before he passed in 1983. They had one child together, Judy Jane.
Kay was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her daughter, Judy and grandson Zachary and embraced every moment with them and all of their friends. She especially loved her role as Nana and spent many years opening her heart and her home to anyone who needed a warm meal and a place to be. Zachary was the apple of her eye.
Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Joseph ‘Archie’ Surette; her parents, as well as her siblings - Austin, Ann ‘Peggy’, Stella, Mary and Helen . She leaves behind her sister Delia ‘Dee’, her daughter, Judy & her boyfriend Gary, who was Nana's friend and favorite sports fan and her beloved grandson Zachary.
Graveside Services will be held at Farrington Morton Cemetery on River Road in Mexico, Maine on June 19, 2021 at 11:00am - with a Celebration of her long life to be held immediately following at 4 Beta St Mexico - refreshments will be offered.
In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a flower in her honor someplace meaningful to you.
