Karla's obituary
Born in 1955 to parents Herbert and Estelle Howell, Karla was a precocious little girl, Once when asked if she was thirsty, she replied "I'll have a short beer." She graduated from Newfield High School in 1973. After a few years Karla went on to become a practical nurse, since she loved helping people. She worked for many years at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC and later for a busy dermatology practice in New York City. Karla was a loving and doting aunt to Angela, Ronnie, Riley, Violet, Eddie, Paul, Patti, Debbie, Denise, Cindy, Dawn, David and Ricky and adored her family. Karla was passionate about her Lutheran Faith and a firm believer in Christ. She loved celebrating holidays and was famous for her Angel cookies. Her presence is sorely missed and her loss is deeply felt by her friends at Faith Lutheran Church and by her neighbors. Karla is predeceased by brother Edwin and his wife Ruth, her mother and father, grandmother Caroline and great-grandma Stella. She is survived by sisters Barbara and Ellen and their husbands Ron and Frank. Her ashes were scattered in the garden of her church on 8/25/22 with the Rev. Eric Olsen presiding over a beautiful ceremony. In lieu of flowers you may donate to Faith Lutheran Church, 7750 Beneva Rd., Sarasota, FL 34238 or to ASPCA (she adored dogs and cats) or to the charity of your choice.
